Edgenics Digital Journalism Program

The Edgenics Digital Journalism Program is defined to include all areas of professional pursuit that involve the creation, processing, publication, distribution and/or use of digital content. Obvious disciplines in the Digital Journalism include: writing, content editing, digital photography, digital films, graphics and audio production. Other careers in the converged media industry are focused on computer programming, engineering and other technical disciplines that support the digital media workflow process.

The Edgenics Digital Journalism Program will focus on providing high-quality secondary education programs that build solid academic foundations for further study of Journalism and related academic and technical subjects. The Edgenics Digital Journalism Program will produce students who have an interest in, and aspire to pursue business and professional careers in, the convergent media industries or related fields. The Digital Journalism Program will prepare students to pursue a variety of career paths. The Digital Journalism Program is designed to prepare each student for a productive career in convergent media industry.

The Digital Journalism Program is designed primarily for high schools. The program combines traditional methods of instruction with leading edge e-Learning approaches. The Digital Journalism Program includes innovative instructional courses developed by working closely with experts from universities, technology companies and the media industry. The Digital Journalism program features:

  •    Courses that match-up with university pre-requisites
  •    Courses that match-up with professional certification requirements
  •    Blended and On-Line courses and course material to enhance traditional instruction
  •    Intensive summer programs
  •    Internships at corporations and universities
  •    Advisory and Mentoring Programs

 

The Digital Journalism Program will focus on providing courses and enrichment programs that expose students to interdisciplinary studies of convergent media.

Schools may implement the Edgenics Digital Journalism Program as elective courses or as an after school program. Schools that are interested in participating in the Edgenics Digital Journalism Program should fill out and submit the application form. High Schools and 21st Century Learning Centers that are selected to participate in the Edgenics Digital Journalism Program will receive Media Lab equipment, software and courseware to support the academic program.
